Tax Information

At Thordis Foundation, we are deeply committed to transparency and ensuring that every donation makes the maximum impact on the lives of the girls we support. As a newly established non-profit in Estonia, we are in the process of applying for tax-exempt status. However, according to Estonian law, we can only apply for this status after six months of operation, which will be on February 19, 2025.

The Current Situation

During this interim period, the Estonian government requires us to pay a 20% tax on all donations received, in accordance with the Income Tax Act § 11 (3) of the Republic of Estonia. This means that out of every euro you generously donate, 20% is currently allocated to tax, leaving 80% to be directly invested in our programs.

How Your Donation is Used

We are committed to ensuring that 90% of your donation is invested directly into the education and well-being of the girls we support. However, during this initial period, this 90% is calculated from the 80% that remains after the tax is deducted. While this temporary situation is not ideal, we are working tirelessly to ensure that every euro still has the maximum impact possible.

Once we achieve tax-exempt status, we will be able to allocate 100% of your donation to our mission, ensuring that even more resources reach the girls who need them most.
